Η κατάσταση με τις πλημμύρες στη Σερβία εξακολουθεί να είναι κρίσιμη κυρίως σε περιοχές που διασχίζει ο ποταμός Σάβα.

Τα αναχώματα στις πόλεις Σάμπατς, Μπάριτς και Σρέμσκα Μίτροβιτσα άντεξαν και τώρα, όπως δήλωσε ο πρωθυπουργός της Σερβίας Αλεξάνταρ Βούτσιτς «αρχίζει η μάχη για να σωθεί το Βελιγράδι».

Στην πρωτεύουσα, χιλιάδες εθελοντές τοποθετούν αμμόσακους κατά μήκος του ποταμού Σάβα, στα σημεία όπου υπάρχει κίνδυνος υπερχείλισης. Η κάτω πόλη, ο σιδηροδρομικός σταθμός και ο χώρος όπου βρίσκονται οι εγκαταστάσεις της Διεθνούς Έκθεσης θεωρούνται τα πιο επικίνδυνα σημεία.

Το κύμα υδάτων, που θα απειλήσει την πρωτεύουσα, αναμένεται την Τετάρτη όταν τα νερά από τις περιοχές που πλημμύρισαν θα έχουν υποχωρήσει στην κοίτη του ποταμού.

Το μεγαλύτερο πρόβλημα υπάρχει στην πόλη Ομπρένοβατς η οποία πλημμύρισε ολοσχερώς.

Η ηλεκτροδότηση σε κάποιες περιοχές της δυτικής Σερβίας αποκαταστάθηκε υπάρχει ωστόσο κίνδυνος για το σύστημα παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας. Η μία από τις δύο μονάδες παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας στο θερμοηλεκτρικό εργοστάσιο «Νίκολα Τέσλα» στο Ομπρένοβατς πλημμύρισε και τέθηκε εκτός λειτουργίας ενώ απειλείται από τα νερά του Δούναβη και το δεύτερο σε ισχύ θερμοηλεκτρικό εργοστάσιο «Κοστόλατς» που βρίσκεται 95 χιλιόμετρα ανατολικά του Βελιγραδίου.Σύμφωνα με τα επίσημα στοιχεία οι «μετρήσιμες» συνέπειες από τις φυσικές καταστροφές στη Σερβία έχουν ως εξής:

Τις επόμενες ημέρες θα υπάρξει σοβαρός κίνδυνος από την εμφάνιση επιδημιών στις πλημμυρισμένες περιοχές. Η κυβέρνηση ανακοίνωσε ότι όταν θα υποχωρήσουν τα νερά θα γίνει απολύμανση των σπιτιών που πλημμύρισαν και απηύθυνε έκκληση στους κατοίκους των περιοχών αυτών να καταναλώνουν μόνο εμφιαλωμένο νερό.

Οκταμελή αποστολή άριστα εκπαιδευμένων διασωστών στέλνει  σήμερα, Δευτέρα 19 Μαΐου, η Ελληνική Ομάδα Διάσωσης στις πληγείσες από τις καταστροφικές πλημμύρες περιοχές της Βοσνίας, Ερζεγοβίνης και της Σερβίας….Η Ελληνική Ομάδα Διάσωσης, ως μέλος του INSARAG του ΟΗΕ, ενημερώθηκε μέσω του δικτύου του ΟΗΕ για το αίτημα της χώρας για διεθνή βοήθεια το Σάββατο, 17 Μαΐου και άμεσα ετοιμάστηκε διασωστικό κλιμάκιο οκτώ μελών για την αποστολή στις πληγείσες περιοχές. Το κλιμάκιο πρόκειται να αναχωρήσει το πρωί της Δευτέρας, 19 Μαΐου με δύο οχήματα και ένα σκάφος, όπως επίσης και εξοπλισμό διάσωσης ορμητικών νερών.

Να σημειωθεί ότι η Διεύθυνση Επιχειρήσεων της Ε.Ο.Δ. έχει ήδη ενημερώσει επίσημα το Γενικό Προξενείο της Δημοκρατίας της Σερβίας στη Θεσσαλονίκη ότι πρόκειται να συνδράμει στο δοκιμαζόμενο λαό της χώρας.

H Ελληνική Ομάδα Διάσωσης παρακολουθεί διαρκώς όλες τις νέες πληροφορίες που έρχονται στο φως μέσω του G.D.A.C.S. (Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System) και διενεργεί επαφές με τοπικούς φορείς για την εκτίμηση. Κλιμάκιο της Ε.Μ.Α.Κ. αποτελούμενο από 25 διασώστες με πλήρη διασωστικό εξοπλισμό και αντλίες είναι σε επιφυλακή έτοιμο να αναχωρήσει για να συνδράμει στην κατάσταση, εφόσον κριθεί αναγκαίο από τις αρχές της Σερβίας.

Ministry of the Interior hereby calls upon all the citizens in possession of boats that could be useful in rescuing people affected by the floods, to contact the neares emergency situations headquarters. Several hundreds of people in their houses are surrounded by the floodwaters and they can only be rescued by boats.

 

Ministry of the Interior hereby extends its thankfulness to the citizens who have up to now contacted the emergency situations headquarters and made their vessels and other relief items available to the rescuers.
